What I’m Reading Now – White Nights

I finished reading Les Miserables. What a wonderful book! And oh so relevant still today. It’s one book I wish I could read in French, Hugo’s native language but my High School French isn’t enough to get me through this work. So, I was reliant upon the translator and I think they did a good job. Certainly anyone who would even attempt a translation of such an epic work would have to love it and to want to convey Hugo’s messages in the most direct and succinct way. Les Miserables had been on my bucket list for a long time, but it’s such an epic work and so intimidating to pick up. I was engaged immediately, for most of the characters I was already familiar with due to the most recent movie with Hugh Jackman and cast, in addition to the stage play I watched some time ago with Michael Ball in the role of Marius. Outstanding, epic. Keep tissues nearby. A much easier read on my Kindle Fire.

I started White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky last night. I “interview” him in my book Interviews With Legendary Writers From Beyond, in case you’re a fan and would like to check it out.
